Road to the Horse Asks, “Who Will Become the First $100,000 World Champion?”
As a Cinderella tale began to unfold at Road to the Horse 2014, Road to the Horse owner and producer Tootie Bland made an announcement that surprised fans and raised the hopes and dreams of all would be Road to the Horse competitors. Road to the Horse will present the next World Champion of Colt Starting with a check for $100,000!
“Road to the Horse brings the best of the best from around the world and I want to make this the biggest and richest colt starting competition in history” announced Tootie Bland. “I want the fans to learn from the best horsemen and now 2015 is shaping up to be the most exciting and rewarding Road to the Horse yet! Only one question remains, who will become the one hundred thousand dollar world champion?”
Ever had a dream? Jim Anderson of Strathmore Alberta, Canada did. And it came true. Not only did Jim Anderson’s journey unfold into the perfect Cinderella story, he is also the first competitor to be named for Road to the Horse 2015 continuing Anderson’s dream.
After a year of hard work with the 6666 Ranch bred colt he took home from Road to the Horse 2013, Jim returned to compete in the first ever Ram Wild Card competition at Road to the Horse 2014. After he was crowned the winner, there was no time to celebrate as he immediately stepped onto the world’s stage to compete for the coveted title of Road to the Horse World Champion. Against some of the best horsemen from around the world, it was a close race against Dan Steers, Jonathan Field and Antoine Cloux, but Jim’s dream did come true and he was crowned the 2014 World Champion of Colt Starting. But the story does not end here.
During a follow up interview on Western Sports Roundup on Rural Radio, Jim was asked a question by a surprise caller.
“Jim, this is Tootie Bland and I have one question for you. How would you like to come back in 2015 to defend your title and take a shot at $100,000?”
Jim Anderson answered, “It is such an honor to be asked and a dream come true. Yes, I would love come back in 2015.”
Who will Anderson face off against in 2015 for $100,000? We know one of seven Wild Cards will have to show their best hand to earn their spot. But for now Tootie Bland is fielding calls from world-renowned clinicians and will have some tough decisions to make.
