With a star-studded talent lineup, paired with the event’s theme of Back to the Ranch, a celebrity ranch sorting competition seemed like the perfect way to kick off Road to the Horse 2020. Partnering with the Ranch Sorting National Championship (RSNC), Road to the Horse will host a celebrity team sorting on Thursday, March 19, prior to the commencement of the main Road to the Horse 2020 colt starting competition, which will run at the Kentucky Horse Park on March 20-22, 2020.
“We’re excited to welcome the Ranch Sorting National Championships to Road to the Horse 2020,” states Western Horseman Publisher Ernie King. “The Celebrity Ranch Sorting competition will allow our competitors a chance to relax and have some fun. It will be exciting for the fans to see their Road to the Horse celebrities in the sorting pen, where they can cheer on their favorite teams!”
The Celebrity Ranch Sorting competition will feature nine teams consisting of top RSNC competitors paired with Road to the Horse competitors, Wild Card competitors, and 6666 Ranch hands. Even Horseman’s Host Dan James and Fan Host Booger Brown will find themselves in the Road to the Horse sorting pen. The top three teams from the first go-round will advance and compete for the title, along with some Road to the Horse bragging rights.
The Celebrity Ranch Sorting will follow the rules and regulations of the RSNC’s Western Heritage Sorting Class which promotes slow and quiet cattle handling and restricts riders to walk and trot gaits only.
Immediately following the Celebrity Ranch Sorting competition, fans will take their first look at the Road to the Horse 2020 Remuda from the 6666 Ranch, where Dr. Glenn Blodgett will be on hand to help educate fans on the history and bloodlines of the colts. A full event schedule is available here.
Road to the Horse 2020’s Back to the Ranch theme is a celebration of the timeless values of the Western lifestyle that include authenticity, courage, humbleness, chivalry, and a relentless can-do Western spirit. The three main competitors that have been selected for Road to the Horse 2020 are Wade Black, Craig Cameron, and Ken McNabb. The event will also feature a Wild Card competition featuring three of the nation’s best up and coming colt starters. Wild Cards who have been announced include Cole Cameron and Wylene Davis. A third Wild Card will be announced in July.
Road to the Horse 2020 will take place at the Kentucky Horse Park on March 19-22. Tickets are available online (click here) or by calling 800-514-3849. Learn more about Road to the Horse and view the event schedule here. Follow Road to the Horse on Facebook for the latest information.
