Road to the Horse Announces Move from Kentucky to Texas for 2021 Event

Roots run deep in Texas for Road to the Horse. This year, the prestigious colt starting competition will make the unprecedented move from the Kentucky Horse Park to Fort Worth, Texas, for the 2021 event. Road to the Horse 2021 will retain the same dates, during the last weekend of March, and will work diligently to comply with all health and safety protocols for attendees. Additional event details, including venue specifics, will be released next week.

Returning to its Texas roots, Road to the Horse 2021 will host the same talented line up from the postponed 2020 event. Championship competitors competing are Wade Black, Craig Cameron, and Ken McNabb. The Wild Card competition will feature three of the nation’s best up and coming colt starters and include Wylene Davis, Cole Cameron and Craig Moore.

Road to the Horse is dedicated to educating fans in the art of natural horsemanship. Year after year Road to the Horse has been an innovative force as it looks back to respect tradition while moving forward in pursuit of its vision. The coronavirus pandemic created new challenges for the event, and Kentucky state regulations will prevent the event from returning to Lexington in 2021. Undeterred, Road to the Horse continues to move forward with the same tenacity and pioneering spirit from which it was established.

“The health and safety of our attendees is our paramount concern, and a comprehensive plan will be in place to create a safe and enjoyable event,” stated Morris Media Network President Tina Battock. “The history Road to the Horse has in Texas is undeniable. There’s not a better place to celebrate the event and what it means to all those associated with it, than deep in the heart of Texas.”

The refund process for the Kentucky event ticket holders will begin next week. Additional ticket and event information will be available soon at www.RoadtotheHorse.com. Ticket sales will be limited to comply with state regulations.

For Immediate Release

2020 Road to the Horse Postponement:

In an abundance of caution, the decision has been made to postpone Road to the Horse, scheduled for March 19-22, at the Kentucky Horse Park’s Alltech Arena. This decision was made today in conjunction with the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet, the Kentucky Horse Park, and in consultation with the Governor’s Office as part of the Commonwealth’s ongoing effort to ensure the health and wellness of the public as Kentucky fights aggressively to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

At this time, we are investigating our options for rescheduling the event and will provide details as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and loyalty.

Meet the colts in the road to the horse 2020 remuda from the 6666 Ranch here

Watching the magnificent 6666 Ranch colts charge into the Alltech Arena at Road to the Horse is simply unforgettable. The running of the Remuda is the true magic of Road to the Horse. It’s generations of the world’s best American Quarter Horses, embodied in one exceptional Remuda. Set for stardom, the colts will embark on the journey of a lifetime when they make their way to Lexington, Kentucky. The colts will take center stage at Road to the Horse on March 19-22, 2020.

“Horsemanship’s most coveted colt starting title wouldn’t be possible without world-class colts” stated Western Horseman Pulisher Ernie King. “We’re honored to welcome the 6666 Ranch back to Road to the Horse in 2020 for the tenth consecutive year. The partnerships that Road to the Horse competitors form with these colts is truly amazing.”

The 6666 Ranch has assembled a selection of their finest for Road to the Horse 2020. Selected by Dr. Glenn Blodgett, the ten untouched colts in the Road to the Horse 2020 Remuda represent the perfect blend of proven Road to the Horse sires and new bloodlines. The sires of the Road to the Horse 2020 Remuda from the 6666 Ranch are:

• BET HESA CAT
• GUTHRIE CITY LIMITS
• JESSES TOPAZ
• NATURAL BOTTOM
• SIXES PICK

The health and well-being of the Remuda is paramount to both Road to the Horse and the 6666 Ranch. Dr. Glenn Blodgett goes to great lengths to create the best possible environment for the colts to learn, develop, and succeed, at Road to the Horse.
“Every year after Road to the Horse, I look back and see what we can do to improve the health, welfare, and presentation of the colts we bring to the event. To me, these horses are like my family “states Dr. Glenn Blodgett. “It’s a really rewarding feeling to see part of your family perform at this event. It’s very special.”

Road to the Horse has assembled a selection of the world’s top colt starters for 2020. The three championship competitors selected to compete for the $100,000 purse are Wade Black, Craig Cameron, and Ken McNabb. The event will also feature a Wild Card competition featuring three of the best up and coming colt starters comprised of Wylene Davis, Cole Cameron and Craig Moore.

Road to the Horse 2020 will take place at the Kentucky Horse Park on March 19-22. Tickets are available online at www.RoadtotheHorse.com or by calling 800-514-3849. Learn more about Road to the Horse at RoadtotheHorse.com. Follow Road to the Horse on Facebook for the latest information.

Road to the Horse 2020 is packed with talent! The complete lineup of championship competitors and Wild Cards have been announced and fans couldn’t be more excited. A perfect blend of fresh faces and veteran competitors will enter the Road to the Horse round pen in 2020, and just as impressive is the entertainment lineup for the event featuring celebrities such as Booger Brown, Dan James and Bobby Kerr. Back by popular demand, the Young Guns 4-H Drill Team will now join the entertainer schedule at Road to the Horse 2020, on March 19-22 at the Kentucky Horse Park.

“The Young Guns 4-H Drill Team performed at Road to the Horse in 2016 and 2017, and we’re excited to extend an invitation to the team in 2020” states Western Horseman Publisher Ernie King. “Watching the horsemanship and showmanship of this young team is such a privilege. It’s our pleasure to provide these young riders a platform to showcase their talent and hard work at Road to the Horse 2020.”

Founded in 1999, the Young Guns Equestrian Drill Team is a group of 4-H equestrians ranging from age 9 to 18, and 4-H alumnae. “Exciting and fearless, the Young Guns are ready to rock Road to the Horse with their daring crosses and thrilling speed. Our team is honored to be invited back to this world-renowned colt starting competition” states Young Guns 4-H Drill Team Director Joyce Voet. “We’re so excited to be able to ride alongside such talented horsemen and horsewomen at Road to the Horse 2020.”

With a star-studded talent lineup, paired with the event’s theme of Back to the Ranch, a celebrity ranch sorting competition seemed like the perfect way to kick off Road to the Horse 2020. Partnering with the Ranch Sorting National Championship (RSNC), Road to the Horse will host a celebrity team sorting on Thursday, March 19, prior to the commencement of the main Road to the Horse 2020 colt starting competition, which will run at the Kentucky Horse Park on March 20-22, 2020.

“We’re excited to welcome the Ranch Sorting National Championships to Road to the Horse 2020,” states Western Horseman Publisher Ernie King. “The Celebrity Ranch Sorting competition will allow our competitors a chance to relax and have some fun. It will be exciting for the fans to see their Road to the Horse celebrities in the sorting pen, where they can cheer on their favorite teams!”

The Celebrity Ranch Sorting competition will feature nine teams consisting of top RSNC competitors paired with Road to the Horse competitors, Wild Card competitors, and 6666 Ranch hands. Even Horseman’s Host Dan James and Fan Host Booger Brown will find themselves in the Road to the Horse sorting pen. The top three teams from the first go-round will advance and compete for the title, along with some Road to the Horse bragging rights.

The Celebrity Ranch Sorting will follow the rules and regulations of the RSNC’s Western Heritage Sorting Class which promotes slow and quiet cattle handling and restricts riders to walk and trot gaits only.

Immediately following the Celebrity Ranch Sorting competition, fans will take their first look at the Road to the Horse 2020 Remuda from the 6666 Ranch, where Dr. Glenn Blodgett will be on hand to help educate fans on the history and bloodlines of the colts. A full event schedule is available here.

Road to the Horse 2020’s Back to the Ranch theme is a celebration of the timeless values of the Western lifestyle that include authenticity, courage, humbleness, chivalry, and a relentless can-do Western spirit. The three main competitors that have been selected for Road to the Horse 2020 are Wade Black, Craig Cameron, and Ken McNabb. The event will also feature a Wild Card competition featuring three of the nation’s best up and coming colt starters. Wild Cards who have been announced include Cole Cameron and Wylene Davis. A third Wild Card will be announced in July.

Road to the Horse 2020 will take place at the Kentucky Horse Park on March 19-22. Tickets are available online (click here) or by calling 800-514-3849. Learn more about Road to the Horse and view the event schedule here. Follow Road to the Horse on Facebook for the latest information.
